Well American SF soldiers used AKs and PKPs and other Russian equipment in Afghanistan.

There's not really any evidence that it belonged to The Sorrow, but the fact that The Boss has no reaction to it is an indication that it didn't.

Both parties stating that it was probably captured by Russians in southeast Asia also indicates that that's probably what happened, and that it isn't The Sorrow's.

Mainly to cover their tracks and simplify ammo concerns.

1. Those AK's and PKP's were not fresh off the drawing board prototypes.

2. They used them to cover their tracks, as someone else mentioned.

3. AK's are EVERYWHERE. M16's....not so much.
