No, what they did was give us a 90 second CGI teaser.

And? Square Enix also used Lightning to bait and switch people into buying XIII-2.

Lightning isn't "confirmed" to be playable. Square Enix says that she will be playable and Square Enix are habitual liars.

"Marketing" and "Lying" aren't always mutually exclusive, bub... but that is besides the point in this instance. They surely exaggerated Lightning's role in XIII-2, but they've already stated that her importance in the story (and yes, from a story telling point of view, she is important) is the reason for her prominence on the box art. Lightning is the reason why Serah and Noel set out on their journey; Lightning is the only reason Mog is in the game and alive; Lightning is the reason why Snow set out; Lightning is also the reason why Hope felt motivated to continue his research; Lightning is also the only thing standing between Caius and the complete destruction of Valhalla; she's also hinted to be the guiding hand that is felt throughout the journey of Final Fantasy XIII-2; One of the main goals in the game is to find Lightning ; there was even a side quest in the Vile Peaks that detailed her relationship with her Squad in the army, her sister, etc; I could go on for days. From a story telling point of view, Lightning is probably more important in XIII-2 than she was in XIII in certain regards. The fact that she didn't have 5 hours of cutscenes and wasn't playable the entire time is besides the point.

They said she would be briefly playable, and she was. They said she would play a major (not main ) role in the story, and she did. They said her presence would be felt (not seen ) throughout the entire journey, and it was. They did not "Habitually lie" to you. Exaggerated? Yes. Lie? No.

Just want to clarify: I don't agree with how Square Enix went about advertisement. It did really over exaggerate Lightning's presence in terms of screen time. But again, that's marketing tactics for you.
