This all assuming SE can pull it off with good writing.

By tactfully, I mean for example not just added for the shock factor.

The main character should be a murderer who's a sex/drugs addict and mentally ill.

Some 'mature' topics are divisive and not all of us go along with the politically correct line that is pushed down our throats. Let's keep gaming neutral.

FF has already dealt with mental illness, though if I'm not mistaken it's a taboo subject in Japan.
The rest has no place in FF for what I'm concerned.

Yes, assuming it's handled tactfully. Time to bring real and relatable issues into these games, and start getting rid of the Fantasy.

That sounds more like a borderline teen character.

FFXV doesn't need to deal with these things as FF Versus XIII already does.

Maybe a struggling alcholic has to cope with his or her personal life being shattered while also attempting to save the world.

Rape, homophobia, pedophilia, racism,...

While people are calling out to FF (and other RPGs) to make "tasteful" mature stories, I'd actually like a total disgusting mish-mash of disturbing topics being touched upon.

Although, FF is really not a series that should ever deal with such things.
