Final Fantasy can't Die

It can't can't die for one major reason.
It was never really alive in the first place.

This entire series has always been about doing new things, resulting in a mess of overrated garbage.

If you look at the timeline of FF and the changes that go along with it, it's clear that if Square had the technology back in the day, they'd be making stuff just as convoluted as the XIII series is now.

Let's be honest though, this series has been doomed since FF7. Square was raking in so much money they didn't know what to do with it, resulting in them thinking they could get away with any major change to the franchise, as a big success.

And to those that think any single FF killed the series, you need to get your head out of your rear end. FF was bound to change regardless, for the reason of demographics alone I'd say.

To put it simply, "old school gamers" are not profitable, and there's nothing you can do about it.

FF is doing a nice job of killing itself on its own, and in a few years unless they change their ways will no longer be an industry leader.

Final Fantasy is old school*, and profitable.

When people stop buying it

Haha...that's a good one.
Might as well ask Tony the Tiger to stop eating children.
