I didnt know about it before i spotted that XIII-2 was going to be released in about 2/3 weeks in Japan so i didnt expect anything. I enjoyed it very much. However... The story had a few flaws... And the promo was decieving... Lightning on the front cover but only being playable after you purchased the DLCs.

The only cool character from FFXIII is useless in combat

Sazh's blitz is pretty useful, and he has haste :(

Indeed. Sazh is one of the most powerful characters through chapter 11, if you know how to use him properly (FFXIII Ch. 11 boss and enemy spoilers):
Bart II in 47 seconds: http://youtu.be/Z5kH1ID9qEI
Adamantortoise farming at stage 8: http://youtu.be/xaV7HrwJG1Y

Those two are a little extravagant. These are more practical:
Geiseric: http://youtu.be/nIne50bdKQI
Dahaka: http://youtu.be/u5V53b5X__Q
Barthandelus II: http://youtu.be/E7Pb40TN2EY

He has endgame and postgame uses as well, although as the stat gap widens and more characters learn Haste, his advantages become very niche.

I think the worst thing about the story in 13-2, even worse than all the time travel and paradox business and cheesiness, is......SPOILERS

That Caius wants to erase all time because he keeps seeing Yeul die over and over, even though it's a different Yeul because she;s reincarnated yet she's still the same Yeul I DUNNO IT'S SO CONFUSING. But yeah, wanting to kill everyone for one stupid girl is the lamest plot point ever.

He doesn't kill anyone in XIII-2, actually. It can be speculated that knocking the two Cocoons together was just a ploy to spur Noel and Serah into taking action against him.

XIII-2 is what XIII should have been.

So insultingly lazy mini-games, puzzles and sidequests, an atrocious story, a bland cast, terrible dialogue, a battle system limited by a huge lack of challenge and reused, uncontrollable monsters, and tons of technical issues is what XIII should have been?

In his opinion. But of course you need to tell him how incorrect he is as always.

Now drop it.

I don't understand this attitude. Why don't people enjoy this game more? I found it to be a great improvement.

It's common on this board. It's better you don't say anything at all. Just enjoy your game.

I find it funny that he liked the game, until it was over, then suddenly decided that after he liked the game the entire first play through, it suddenly wasn't any good anymore.

Because I was waiting for something better the entire game, but it still had the fundamentals of XIII, such as the battle system, that let me enjoy it. Then, I realized that the story sucked, the game was unpolished, the dialogue always bothered me, Serah and Noel always seemed bland to me, the battles were always way too easy, monsters were lame all the time, etc. etc.

I was "having fun" on my first playthrough and I thought it was a 7-7.5 game, and then shortly afterwards, I realized that it was a 5.5-6 game.
