Just picked up FFXIII-2

^ I agree, I love how he suddenly decides he hates the game, Toriyama and the rest of those SE scrubs whilst playing contentedly through the post-game. How could he not have noticed any of those flaws? --- "The only thing that gets me high is the musky scent of my enemy's fear.'' - Stephen Colbert http://s1136.photobucket.com/albums/n496/Elice_Carol/
An atrocious story, a bland cast, terrible dialogue XIII suffered from those same problems as well. Lazy mini-games, puzzles and sidequests Beats just fighting and cutscenes while going on the greatest FF corridor run. A battle system limited by a huge lack of challenge and reused uncontrollable monsters XIII-2's battle system did not have any arbritrary caps that restricted the battle system until late in the game. There is not much of a difference between uncontrolable monstersin XIII-2 and party members in XII. Plus they removed the stupid leader dies equals game over crap, all while adding the option to switch between the human characters, while making battles a lot more fast paced and not drag on like they did in XIII. XIII-2 does get a knock for being a DLC experiment. XIII was a solid game, but XIII-2 improved upon it and as result came out as the better of the two games. Hopefully LR can do a better job in its own right. --- The contents of this post may not reflect the views of the poster.

Elice_Carol posted... ^ Since when does enjoying a game mean that I think it's perfect? I had fun with the gameplay, but I did notice the flaws; it was a 7-7.5 game to be before. Then, I finished it, and I tried doing post-game content, and I evaluated the game, and I realized how much of a piece of crap it is. There's nothing wrong or "strange" about it. --- "Dyin' is easy. From: theofficefan99 | #034 Since when does enjoying a game mean that I think it's perfect? Since when did I call it perfect? Also, your story about how you came to the conclusion that it was horrible is logically flawed. (I really enjoyed Chronobind, BTW. Sure, it was DLC, but I played it for hours on end when I bought Heads or Tails.) --- "The only thing that gets me high is the musky scent of my enemy's fear.'' - Stephen Colbert http://s1136.photobucket.com/albums/n496/Elice_Carol/
King_Shortt_IX posted... So insultingly , , ,, and tons of technical issues is what XIII should have been? -XIII did indeed suffer from Deus Ex Machinas, asspulls and some very cheesy dialogue, but not to the extent of XIII-2. The majority opinion is that XIII has a better story than XIII-2, and this is painfully obvious. XIII-2's story is incomprehensible, bland garbage. And while I'm sure that most people have at least one party member of XIII that they do not like (I personally hate Hope and Snow), I wouldn't say that the cast is bland. -In XIII, at the very least, the combat was challenging, you had 6 very different party members, you had Eidolons, and you had actually useful "Limit Breaks." In XIII-2, the combat is piss-easy, monsters are lame and limit your paradigm customization, you don't have Eidolons, the game is so easy that you don't need Limit Breaks, and there are only 2 real party members. And, no, the mini-games, sidequests and puzzles are so lazy and uninspired that they're insulting. Yeah, here's your Gold Saucer... you can play slots and watch chocobo races, and if you want these lame card games, pay extra. Yeah, here are your sidequests... do something horribly tedious like find a man hiding in a convoluted city and answer random questions, or complete the entire bestiary, or find invisible items, etc. etc. Yeah, here are your optional locations... that are the exact same map with seasonal changes despite supposedly being hundreds of years in the future/past. Yeah, here are your puzzles with a lame, lazy, randomly-generated design with the same reused music from XIII playing with the same aesthetic every time. It's a lazy, lazy game and even though XIII was repetitive, the combat was, at the very least, more satisfying, and even though XIII-2 was not linear, nothing beat the size and scope of the Archylte Steppe in XIII, and the optional locations in XIII weren't just lazy rehashes. -The only "arbitrary caps" were having no paradigms in Chapters 1 and 2. After Chapter 4, you NEED to grind in order to max out your Crystarium. And how are the party members "no different" from monsters? You can actually control them, and they're real party members. There are only TWO people you can use in XIII-2, as if the "Leader Change" made a big difference at all. And from the sounds of it, you just like how XIII-2 was much easier. No fight in XIII dragged on unless you had terrible paradigms. Like I have said before, XIII-2 made some improvements in the gameplay department, but that's about it. --- "Dyin' is easy. So while you were playing it, you thought it was a 7.5. After awhile, you realized the game only deserves a 5-6? And this is before you beaten it, right? Yes. I thought it was a 7-7.5 because I was enjoying myself gameplay-wise but I wanted the game to get better. By the time I came to A Dying World, I started realizing how unsatisfying this experience was. And after I got over the flashy finale (since the fight with Caius was cool, and the music was awesome the whole finale), I evaluated the experience, and I realized that the game is a piece of crap. I only had fun with the game's battle system and I liked how the game wasn't linear and restrictive, which were my gripes with XIII. Enjoying a game does not mean that I thought it was perfection. I enjoyed the gameplay, because it was fun, but then I was unsatisfied with how easy it was, and how the exploration wasn't even satisfying, and how lazy the time traveling, the mini-games, the puzzles and the sidequests all felt, I hated the unpolished feel of the game the whole time, and I was already expecting a terrible story and I got one. --- "Dyin' is easy. Are you trying to "convince" me that I actually like the game? Because I don't. I was enjoying myself. Gameplay-wise. But I was expecting something more the whole time. And then it ended. Then I evaluated the game. I realized it was a piece of crap. The more I played it, the more I realized this. There is nothing illogical about this. --- "Dyin' is easy.
