There are some points where Slattery's literal translation was better (The Opera and Celes' Suicide Attempt), and others where the Woolseyisms were better (all of Kefka's lines). The GBA also just had a poor-quality sound system in which the same 10 instruments or so were often reused.

That is why you use the sound restoration patch. :u That is what I did. It sounds just like the snes version then.

The sound quality for FFV Advance is fine, there's no need.

Yep, and I believe one has been made for FF IV as well. I also suggest the color restoration patch, because they raised the contrast a lot in the GBA version to make it show up better on dim screens before the SP came out. So it looks way too bright on normal screens.

The GBC, GBA, and DS all looked washed out because of that contrast raise. :/

The issues with the GBA versions are purely down to console limitations. Sound and visuals. In terms of the actual games they are awesome, definitive versions. FFV in particular enjoyed an amazing GBA script.

All they require is porting to any current console, even iOS and they'd be perfect.

DS version of FFIV was pretty crap though.

Classic style rpgs actually play really good on iOS, despite all the stigma against the platform. :o I played dimensions on my ipad and had no trouble with it at all. I think the people who don't like it must have really fat fingers or something.

But I didn't think FF IV ds was crap. It is the definitive version to me. o.o
