So why has arguably the worst main FF received 2 sequels?

I don't think Cloud actually got a video game sequel. VII got a prequel and a TPS or something, much later, but it's not like they put off FFVIII for a few years while they did that.

To recover from the financial disaster that was FFXIV they needed to fart out a quick game or two to get back on their feet quickly instead of spend 3-4 more years developing a new quality FF with herat and soul poured into it.


And to recover from the financial loss they heavily damaged the FF brand.

Ironic. They got their money back but killed their brand.
