Lumina = a character designed specifically to inject melodrama into the plot. As should be obvious based on her appearance.

ZOMG!? Is Lumina related to Serah? Is she Lightning and Hope's lovechild? Some silly red herring?

I figure she will turn out to be Serah.

The alternative is that a person who looks almost exactly like Serah lived a life that lead her into a situation where she could use her appearance to mess with Lightning completely by coincidence.
