FF needs to die.

Yea! One game a couple millions of us don't like! Die SE!...

Yawn... go play A Relam Reborn or play GTA5 until Versus come out next year.

Actually, it's 2 (soon to be 3) games, plus a couple million is a significant portion of the fan base seeing as how the majority of people who bought XIII didn't buy XIII-2, and it's not like the other games they've been making recently are that great either.

The Swedish studio GRIN was developing a FF ARPG before they went out of business.

Hard to have a couple million for two other games...

Versus XIII is coming in 2014, GTA5 will be awesome, and PS4/Xbox 720 is coming in Dec. Lightning Return will be super awesome and I don't care what you think!

SE needs to develop a new IP called First Reality, and it is all about an average person dealing with average problems in a contemporary setting.

Square is ruining the once legendary JRPG franchise

And now it's a parody of its former self.

Like I wish FF13 would have brought the series back to its glory days.

I also was hyped that FF13 would incorporate Advent Children battles

And have a better story.

It's just laughable beyond this point.

This FF13 series makes FF8 a masterpiece.

This is not a good thing.

-All The Bravest. 'Nuff said.

-Revealed another browser game instead of something that would have been awesome like Star Ocean 5.

-TWEWY countdown was for an iOS port instead of an actual sequel.

-Versus XIII hasn't been released yet after nearly 7 years since its announcement. They have kept potential customers in the dark for over 2 years now.

-Type-0 has not been localized, and it's been over a year since its Japanese release. This game was also announced in 2006.

-Bravely Default has gotten no word on a localization yet.

-Chrono has been ignored for over a decade now, minus a DS port.

-Square Enix killed the Mana series with the terrible Dawn of Mana. Oh wait... they're making Circle of Mana, which is an iOS game...

-Square Enix mutilated and mercilessly destroyed the Parasite Eve franchise with The 3rd Birthday.

-Front Mission was ruined with Front Mission: Evolved.

-It's been nearly 3 years since Final Fantasy XIII's release and there has been no word on the next offline mainline title, when the next main offline title is usually announced before the release of one. For example, XIII was announced 5 months before XII's release, and IX, X, and XI were announced at the same time.

-Square Enix released Final Fantasy XIV in the sorry-ass state that it was, thinking that they could get away with it, and then suffered massive losses, tarnishing the FF brand and pushing the development of other games back a few YEARS to fix this gigantic mess.

-Didn't advertise/help Cavia enough, and they died as a result.

-They haven't been pushing tri-Ace to continue with their awesome IP's, and instead, they have been forcing them to help out on cheap cash-ins like XIII-2.

-They continuously use terrible writers like Toriyama for some reason despite everyone hating everything that he does.

-Square Enix hasn't released a main console Kingdom Hearts game in 6 years now.

-Square Enix is using part of their resources to milk XIII when that wasn't needed.

-One of the VERY few games they worked on this gen outside of FF, The Last Remnant, was PLAGUED with bugs that made it almost unplayable.

-They announced a port of Final Fantasy X last year and there hasn't been any sort of news on it since its reveal.

Square Enix has been a terrible company the last few years outside of their published stuff.

Final Fantasy needs to truly re-examine itself... I-X had a cohesion that is hard to deny.

XI going online started a real rift in the fanbase that XIV has only managed to deliver a critical Quad Attack to...

XII, in my opinion a celebratory fusion of FF and FFT, is divisive for precisely that reason... it's different in so many ways, but a good number of them just -work-.

XIII... it's on more than one system at its launch. Battles are greatly different from any previous game. So much was removed, such as towns and NPCs, and much of the game goes through mostly-straight corridors with few sidepaths.

Then there's X-2 and XIII-2... the dreaded -sequels-. X and XIII had stories that didn't leave too many loose ends hanging - mostly a certain character's sacrifice-yet-not-death. X-2 focused on that point and made a solid game with unbalanced presentation. XIII-2 used the same premise, but in the process erased XIII's ending, which is a questionable move. It then ended with its new story incomplete, which is only permissible in a truly fantastic game that would demand a sequel anyways (the original Golden Sun did that and led into an amazing sequel.).

So, now we have a sequel to a sequel that isn't starting right where the first sequel left off... XIII-3 AKA LR:FFXIII.

And that's not counting the side-games with the FF name attached to them in the past decade - Dissidia is great fun, Theatrhythm good -on the 3DS-, and various rebirths of FFI-VI (Advance, DS, PSP, Iphone)... as well as some highly forgettable junk like ATB that sadly seems to be where they're looking.

What I want is a nice console or handheld (3DS/VITA) game that honors what FF truly is... not just a collection of stereotypes and Mary Sues using the spells and weapons of the heroes of the NES, SNES, PSX, and PS2.

I thought FF died after VIII? Or was it IX? Nope I think it was X, but then again some people were saying XII killed the series. Man the series sure has died many times...

The fact is the wheel is going to keep on turning. You are either going to stay on or get off that ride. SE will move on with or without you. Their main target is the new generation of teenagers not us 20 to 30 something years old.

no, FF is doing fine....

all FF's, literally all of them, are different games, that could stand on their own as a good game... well, maybe back when they were made, not anymore because lets face it, looks are #1 to human opinion (this is fact, most people would rather eat something that looks good, taste doesnt matter, and good looking kids are usually more liked, and less problematic than not so good looking kids), and graphics are looks...

the people, like TC, that believe FF is a failure now, are not FF fans... the 13 trilogy is not foreshadowing to what FF15 might be like, in fact, FF15 could be much different... it could be like 12, but instead of deserts for half the game, it could be rainforests.... or like 7 but instead of a spiky haired main character with a huge sword, a main character with no hair and a dagger...

FF is still the great franchise that it always was, whether you think so or not... it hasnt done anything different, and at the same time it has done everything different, and i hope they keep it up...

This. FF is far from being dead but yeah they are losing fans jus like all big series; Assassin's creed, Sonic, Resident Evil, DMC. Everytime a series evolve they lose fans. Some people can't except change.

Don't give me the "some people can't accept change" BS. That's just an excuse, and you know it. By the way, not all change is good. People have no problem with good change, like with Metroid Prime. Just saying.
