Would you have a problem with FF going more anime/cartoonish?

^ My opinion is that FFIX was pure trash. It's just your opinion not a fact.

Calm down now boys. o.o The proper way to settle this is with a duel.

What kind of duel?

Yes.

There's a reason I don't like FFIX, and its because of the aesthetics.

Realism is the reason we have XIII.

Believe it or not FFVIII started that trend. Only people who played back then can understand how amazing FFVIII looked. I was surprise graphics could be that realistic at the time. FFX, XI, XII, and XIII continue that realism trend.

but realism can only go so far. especially when characters from square start looking the same.
example:
aya brea, lightning
those characters from type-0 make it completely obvious.

im not changing this sig until i see a cutscene with lightning on the toilet. hell it doesnt have to be a long one

Maybe they should get an artist that can actually draw more than 3 face types then.

I wouldn't mind. I've been tossing this idea around for a while, but I think the FF series should attempt to try different styles. That does not mean that they should forget about the realistic look. Far from it, but they should try new things once in a while. My idea is, after seeing Ni no Kuni and realizing there's a fanbase for games like Pokemon and such, maybe they should do a totally new FF game with cell shaded graphics, a world that looks bright and painted(like Ni no Kuni), where you make pacts with summon beasts, and other people make pacts of with summon beasts, sort've like FFX, but WAY more summons that you can control somewhat like a cross between Pokemon and Personas(of course, from the Persona series). Maybe get Nomura to do the character designs(in a similar style to The World Ends With You, cell shaded and such), explore a world that is both contemporary(like Pokemon, with cities, towns, with cars and buses) and classic(castles and towers, and mysterious forests of magic, and caves of crystal). I think Square should not only aim for a teen+ audience, but also aim for a younger audience. Keep their minds open to greater variety.

Interestingly enough, when I initially saw the boy from Ni no Kuni, in his fantasy outfit, I thought he looked a lot like a kid version of Bartz:

Besides that, the world of Ni no Kuni was beautiful and bright. It would be something to see that applied to a FF world. Maybe a classic one. Seeing classic black mages, white mages and such in a world like that would be a kick!

Visually I don't care I would still play it if the story and gameplay still have that FF feel and don't turn into something cartoony
