Well, Obata was probably asked to go crazy with his Simon Belmont redesign(as well as all the other characters in Judgement). Cecil, like the other artist, he was probably told to keep true to the original design. It's pretty badass(love that Obata gave the picture some umph by placing Cecil on the moon with the Blue Planet behind him and a crystal formation beside him).

Toriyama should work on more FFs!
I would've liked Berzerk's mangaka to work on FFVII.
I would love to see a Toriyama FF world, though I'd love even more to see a Chrono sequel where Toriyama heads the art direction. Many people gripe about his style, which they shake off as being simplistic, but I can't help to feel that there's a kind of charm to it. I love how his worlds tend to have dome-shaped houses and animal people, despite being different worlds(Dragon Ball, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger). They are all really colorful, whimsical worlds(that can be dark if the story allows it).
It is interesting that got the guy who does Naruto to do Cloud, considering I always thought, from the first time I saw Naruto, it reminded me of the unconventional depiction of ninjas like FFVII's Yuffie. Hell, Yuffie could fit in with all those Naruto characters. Also, there's something about Nomura's designs of the FFVII characters that I see done similarly with the Naruto characters(guess it's the more modern taken on fantasy):
Something feels extremely wrong about Naruto and Bleach's creators respective designs for Cloud and Squall. Like, it all feels incredibly snooty.
Oh well, my favorites are I, VI and XII, VI's in particular makes me want to watch Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. --- "The only thing that gets me high is the musky scent of my enemy's fear.'' - Stephen Colbert http://s1136.photobucket.com/albums/n496/Elice_Carol/
