I'm unsure how to feel about SE financial losses. On the one hand I'm hoping they adopt some new, more efficient method of releasing their games but on the other, the losses they incur may cause the to stop releasing some games in the West, especially any potential rare gems.
Hopefully things work out for the better this year. I may have hated XIII-2 and refused to buy it, while their newer games just don't pique my interests (save for the new Tomb Raider). But LR looks promising enough based on what I've seen.
When all else fails; hit them with the force of an 18-wheeler.
They have only themselves to blame. Hopefully they'll earn enough from selling Luminous that they can stay in business.

It's not that bad. Square-Enix just isn't performing as well as they have in the past. They are not on the verge of bankruptcy. So selling their propriety game engine at this stage in game would be foolish.
