Metacritic critic averages are important. Don't tell me they aren't, because Metacritic is even starting to affect developers' paychecks.

Exactly
It only effect developers, or people who's lives are dependent on their game being successful.

Metacritic is not the end all argument to a game's quality.
Metacritic is not proof.
Most importantly, Metacritic should not be used to force your own opinions down people's throats.

Metacritic is a solid measure of the quality of a game. A bad game will usually have a bad average, and a good game will usually have a good average.

This, coupled with the reception with the users, can be used as "proof."

And I will continue using Metacritic as much as I want even though you are so awesome for not being a sheep to those damn critics and review aggregate sites.

It just makes you look like a one trick pony and sometimes results in eye-rolls being directed at you. :u

and you're point doesn't work anyway since FF 11 has an 85 metacritic average. :u That is just as high if not higher than those free-to-play rpgs you mentioned. Square has literally nothing to gain from making the game free to play.

It shouldn't affect anything, it's the most stupid source anyone can use. This games good cos Metacritic says so.

The world would be a better place without metacritic.

For example, according to metacritic, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy Tactics are only 4 points better than FF XIII-2. That is all that separates them. o.o That means they are pretty much in the same league, right?

I played Guild Wars 2. People basically buy gold off Arenanet now, via gems.
Dresdenfall is amazing, if you know what I mean :) /wink wink

Furthermore, metacritic places both FF XII and Vagrant Story at a 92. That means they are both just as excellent right? :u I could go on and on.
