Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

I'd say the snes games are the "roots" of the final fantasy series. o.o And III to a lesser extent. They sort of defined what Final Fantasy is as a series.

I know the psx games are more popular, but I can't see how they could be the roots of the series since all three of them are vastly different games. <_> FF 9 was actually a return to the style of the nes/snes games. FF VII and FF VIII are very unique when compared to the rest of the series.
