Reviews mean nothing, it's all about the general public. And XIII to XIII-2 trends worse than X to X-2; what does it matter if ot was released in 2003? VII was reased in 1997 and it STILL sold better than the XIII saga combined Lel
And the FFVII took about 8 years to sell 9.8 million copies while it only took the XIII Saga about 4 years to ship 9.7 million.There is nothing wrong with that.
It does not matter if FFVII a better Metacritic score than FFXIII; XIII's was high, regardless. If it is all about the general public, then I still say that it is well received (not as much as others, but well received, nonetheless).
Yes, the trends are worse, but we would still have no way of knowing if the trend would be the same if the XIII saga was highly acclaimed as X and X-2.
The differences between 1997 and 2003 were not nearly as big as 2003 and 2012.
