It isn't so western as it is diverse enough to take different cultures in effect and pay homage. I, for one, am glad it isn't completely "animuuuuuu" and Japanese focused as that would really stifle creativity but really not all animes are like that. Look at Ergo Proxy and Berserk.

How is Beserk not considered western? So basically what makes something western or eastern is where it is made not what elements everything (story, setting, culture) is drawn from?

Deny. FF is an anime JRPG through and through, don't let the graphics fool you.

This, only I'm serious while saying this.

And I've been say this for years. The realistic looking graphics only hide the fact it's anime like.
