Recipe to a good FF game

Go back to the turn-based root, but make the game MUCH more difficult. Challenge Atlus. If they can make SMT franchise successful with their infamous difficulty, Square Enix can follow suit.

Accompanied by mature cast of characters and plot as well as beautiful (as per usual) graphics, soundtracks and interesting sidequests with great rewards and open world to explore, I don't see how Final Fantasy can not cater to the old and new fanbase simultaneously.

The older titles never had an "Open World" it was linear but not to the extreme like X and XIII.

Well, FFXII can be considered open world, at least semi-open. If a PS2 title can pull that off, I don't see why the current/next gen title couldn't.

XIII is harder than 6 7 8 9 10 12

and turn-based is outdated.

Character (Design/Development)
Soundtrack
Gameplay.

All of those things are judged subjectively. All of those will be good or bad depending on who you ask. I don't think that there is such thing a recipe for a good FF game.

Obviously it's going to be hard on hard. You don't play hard to breeze through the game.
