Why are people under the impression that these game sell poorly on the 360?

XIII is a platinum hit on the 360, so I don't think anyone can argue it wasn't a success.

It's hard to find sales numbers (I'd like to avoid vgchartz as I'm not sure how reliable it really is) but from what I gather XIII-2 sold about as much as some high budget 360 exclusive RPGs (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia (at least for a time)) and I know that Blue Dragon was considered to be a success by Sakaguchi in an interview, and then obviously he made Lost Odyssey after that. XIII-2 may have had a higher budget and SE may have different expectations, but considering it's just one version of a multiplatform game, I think we can infer it sold just fine.

Then we have Square announcing XV and KH3 for Xbox One. I don't think they would keep doing this if it wasn't worth it for them.

Edit: Heh, XIII-2 is actually a platinum hit on the 360 in Japan of all places. I wonder if that truly only counts 360 sales.

Going by the dates those are for the Japanese version. I don't think anyone will argue that 360 sales aren't low over there. But overseas is where the 360 Final Fantasy sales shine.

Of course the PS3 version vastly outsells the 360 version, but that doesn't at all mean the 360 version sells poorly.

This seems to be a major fact that alludes many FF fans. This is the reason why people question why SE still sells their games on the 360. They don't realize that just because one vastly outsells the others it doesn't mean there isn't a profit to be made on the 360. If i recall, on the 360 FFXIII hit over a million copies. SE made the right choice....in the west at least. 360 in japan isn't so worth it
