Yes and no. On one hand, the story isn't nearly as Deep and complex as it Think it is, but really rather laughably stupid. And on the other hand, you've got some big key plot Points hidden away in datalogs that no one reads or other illogical places. "Hey, you guys wanna know what happened at the end of XIII? Well, **** you, we'll release that information in a guide. That we won't translate into English, the language the majority of you speak, or even release it outside Japan lolol".
My excuse for 'not getting it' (If I ever need one) would simply be total apathy about the whole mythos at this Point. Just can't find an excuse to care. --- "And you have proved to be A real human being and a real hero..."
I understand the entire series, and I haven't read a single datalog entry directly explaining the story.
I really don't see why people think it's hard to understand...
If this is true, what you think is you understanding the story may be completely different from what the creators intended. I felt the same and then almost fell off my chair when I read the wiki --- Proud and secure True Gamer
I mostly understand everything in this series, except for two things:
1. Why did Fang attempt to attack Vanille after agreeing to kill orphan during the cutscene in between the final boss battles.
2. During that same cutscene, when Lightning and crew returned from being ceith, why did Snow and Light apologize to Fang? She was the one who had just betrayed them, so.....? -__- --- No. XI MARLUXIA In the arc of his scythe, flowers grow and all else perishes.
It makes perfect sense to me, and even the time travel in FFXIII-2 gave me zero problem, the only thing to understand is that it doesnt use the usual concept of time. --- "Remember, you can make anything as idiot-proof as you want, they'll just build a better idiot...."
