Remember when we could talk to EVERY NPC in a Final Fantasy game?

Those were the days.

Not hating but it just feels kinda empty when you can only talk to some npcs but not others.
I mean if they put them in the game why not give them some text?

Damn those Pulse L'Cie!

The option to talk with them would be nice, but they never had anything of substance to say.

I am a Pulse l'Cie, commonly hated by everyone on the face of the planet and on the run from the military.
They know who I am and how I look like.
....
I want to talk to people.

(if you go near an npc it will start talking. you're not pressing a button but you're still getting the dialogue. I don't see the problem.)

I was just thinking about how many gaming hours I must have spent (wasted?) making sure I'd talked to every NPC in rpg towns for literally no useful purpose.

I'm sure that there are some fanboys who will come in and claim that the way XIII did it - giving you no interaction or immersion with the world or people who lived in the world - is the superior method because "lol derp who wants to hear what they have to say????"
