Wtf?!?! Bought a Wii U mainly for this and Pikmin 3, yet we have to wait EXTRA LONG? The 3ds ver has been out in Japan for almost a year, so it cant be translation...

There's more to it than just translation. You gotta westernize (localize) a lot of the text too, for your audience base. Also changes between NTSC-J and NTSC-U, ASCII and Unicode... etc etc.

AFAIK, the Wii U is a region locked system so, there's some steps in between to make the software compatible with the different operating systems.

I'm sure it's fully translated already, it's just they have to setup SERVERS in NA for multiplayer and that takes MONEY and TIME.

Its Monster Hunter... be glad its only a few months behind Japan. Personally, I'm waiting to pick up a Wii U until around the time this gets localized because I don't want to make the same temporary mistake I made with the Vita.

In Japan, this is a system seller so it's ok to release it on day one.

In the west, it's better to wait until a userbase has build and to avoid Mario and Call of Duty.
