Old Blos' resurfacing was sketchy in that sometimes he'd burrow to where you were (where he'd normally surface), but then stop, and rather than resurfacing he'd dig straight to where you were standing at that moment. It's hard to explain, but you had a tiny reaction frame. Old Blos also resurfaced much quicker after digging, and in general moved faster. So I'm pretty sure I don't have it backwards, at least from my experience.
Weakpoints are another matter. Old Blos' tail/rump is an easier target than new Blos' stomach/neck.
