Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

Hey folks.

I'd love to pull together some general advice pieces from older hunters, for newcomers and for people who are willing to listen. Anything from weapon usage, to specific strategies for monsters, to interesting item combinations.

Feel free to challenge advice given, but be considerate of the fact that we're just trying to have a happy discussion.

I'll go first:

If a monster has you in a nom-trap, don't throw a Dung Bomb unless you're fighting a Jho or anything that can two-nom kill you. Even then, hold out until the last moment. The amount of HP they regenerate is a pittance in comparison to the amount of damage your team will do in potentially staggering and breaking you free from the nom-trap. Furthermore, dunging a monster and forcing it to leave an area will interrupt your team's momentum, undo status damage and unnecessarily lengthen quest times.

Throw all of your flashbombs at once, the effect stacks on the monsters.

Also, its a myth that the bomb has to be anywhere near the monsters face when it goes off.

Get a simple understanding of the damage formula. You don't need to do calculations every time you hit something, but just understanding how to maximize your damage from what you have on you is a valuable skill.

There will always be a guy named Alex who wears Full Rathian Gear and uses a Guan Do. No matter what you tell him he will always be right.

Oh and if you see Pokegami remember to poke fun at him for leeching the Tenebra Quest on the Tri boards.

LSers should always go for the face, so forget about the hammer users getting first prioity. Make sure you spam spirit attacks the whole time. If your tripping your whole team....then your doing it right.

Hammers should always, and I mean always attack the tail.

Rathian armor is the best armor in the game.
