Newbie Help - decorations

Any good explanation about how to best use decorations to max out skill sets on armor?

I watched a youtube tutorial for Tri that used a leather set and a few Whim decorations to max that stat out. Except in the video, the 3 other high stats remained at 10 or above (i forget exactly what they are for the leather armor), and when I added the Whim decoration, the Whim stat went up but all the others dropped below 10

Which, if I am understanding correctly, if a stat is below 10, then the effect doesn't kick in, correct?

Well each decoration lists what stats it effects. Ideally you want ones that don't have negatives. But usually those cost more or depending on the stat don't exist. Before you make a decoration you can see what it does.

Yes if its under 10 it's not active. You can see what active skills you got on the status screen (the skills section of it)

Don't know how I missed that. Thanks, will check again tonight

I assume the reverse is true, that if its between -1 and -9, the negative skill isnt active either?

erm there's no need to watch a video tutorial, it is all self explanatory.

step 1) look at base armor skills on a set

step 2) look at decorations you can make

step 3) use your brain and do some simple maths

step 4) ???

step 5) profit!

each "armor skill" has a different requirement to activate, although most are +10, some are +15 and some are +20.

some give a negative effect if you reach -10.

see here for more info on all the different skills:
