Serious question: How is the community?

I have never played a CoD game or whatever. My last serious FPS was Halo 2 and I have dabbled with Gotham City Imposters recently. I just haven't had time for online gaming lately like this.

I know there is a lot of concern about the issue of "Brogamers" and what not. When I've witnessed the game being played on Xbox, it has tested my patience...

So my question is... is the game worth playing for single player and does the community online not suck?

It's really not that bad. On 360/PS3 it's not as bad as people make it out to be, just mute people that annoy you. Most of the time you'll play with people who don't bother communicating anyway.

On the Wii U, the community is... small. Almost everyone plays Team Deathmatch, although there are more people playing Objective modes now. You don't have to worry about trash talking or anything because no-one uses chat. Like, no-one. I've played loads of games since last week, and only seen 2 people talking. It's a bit disappointing really, I'd rather have people talking and having to mute the trash talkers, than have the entire game in silence >.>

Anyway, as far as online goes it's still a decent shout. The community is definitely growing, so I'm sure it'll get better.

Yeah. For voice chat, I'm still a bit confused to be honest. If I enable voice chat, can I just chat through the Gamepad without the need for a headset?

No, but I believe you can just plug in a pair of headphones and the mic on the gamepad then becomes active (although it may be noisy for those listening).

As for me, I use a PC headset (with split headphone and mic plugs) and a $5 radio shack adapter that combines them back into one 4-pole plug for the GamePad. Apparently cell phone headsets/earbuds (with an in-line mic) work as well.

Ah ok, that's pretty cool. I'll have to give that a go tonight, thanks :)

It all depends on who you play, but in all honesty there is a magic little setting you can choose to enable, it is called something "Mute all except party" or something like that. If you don't want to hear the nonsense you can turn it off, you can actually turn off all voice chat if you wanted to as a default setting, but I don't reccomend that if you watn to try to play objective modes and moderately coordinate.

the campaign offers less than 10% of what the game is all about.
