The lances have poor crowd control, I only ever bring them if theres something like hectors and stronger. good weapons tough.
Also you are forgetting the iddun's (or any electric weapons) factor not shown in the stats: the ricocheting.
It seems the enemy hit by it doesnt need the actual bolt to bounce off its body and hit it again, it probably hits twice on the first contact.
This already happened since the second game, I remember taking on mecha godzilla and being surprised at how fast he died with a weapon that technically should had take more time to kill it.
sacred lance is pretty good crowd control - it's got a bit of a spread, but it depends on your style. idunns stun lock so that's their main draw for me, but they're an anti bug weapon through and through.
idunns reflecting is cool, but that's not much help against single targets like the wasp nests.
Yeah, that one with 9 way spread is actually good, tough if im going for close range I stick with rapiers just beacuse the really fast reload.
I stated that for some reason the bolt seems to hit twice the first time it hits the target. The weapon is stronger than the stats show.

even so, it need to hit nearer ~3x to match the rapier on a nest/single target
Not nearly on the same range of damage as a rapier of course, but certainly more than it looks to justify why everyone raves so much about it.
Obviously no one is gonna pick an iddun instead of a rapier to take down a nest of some of the tougher enemies.
@ unnamedFer I have just discovered that 9 way... bloomin' brilliant! Up close it's like an electric FAST shotgun... against the Hectors it rocks!
I actually meant sacred lance or luonnotar. None of those were 9 way but close enough, lol.
