Pony has different version?

I just tried to visit a friend to leave them a chest but got a notification saying that they had a different version of the game than me. I thought for a second that maybe iPhone and Android users couldn't visit each other, so I decided to visit someone I had already visited to make sure, but got the same notification. Was there an iPhone version update and I just haven't gotten it yet?

I know that and I do. But there haven't been ANY updates since I added my first friend, period. There's no reason why I shouldn't be able to visit any of my friends.
