Think they'll fix the random HDMI issues for the PS4?

I'm constantly having issues with mine. New and different cables. Tried different HDMI ports. Resets and settings changes. I think my PS3 might be the problem. I constantly get flashes.

Sometimes you can get a temporary improvement by simply unplugging and replugging the HDMI cable. But like I said, what you really need is a firmware update for your TV. If there isn't one, either complain to your TV manufacturer or just get a new TV.

Or you could just use component cables, if you're "desperate."

Never heard of it. So most doesn't mean what you think it does.

Nope, can't say I've ever had this problem. Only issue I've had is the sound gliching out. However, I'm fairly confident that is with the TV as both my PS3 and my PVR suffer the same issue.

Now I'm sure everyone who has used HDMI for their PS3 has ran into this problem. There's the HDMI "Hand Shake" where either static will flash across the bottom of the screen, or you'll lose your video for half a second randomly, or they've exited a game only to come across the "Unsupported Mode" text (depending on what brand of TV you have it may say something else) . It's just an issue PS3s have from time to time when switching video formats (from 720 to 1080, etc), and it is something most of us have to deal with.

So, with that being said, do you think we'll still be having the issue from time to time with the PS4?

I've never had any HDMI issues, except with a known malfunctioning monitor. No one I know with a PS3 has had those issues.

The malfunctioning monitor (yes it had HDMI input). When I played MGS4, during the intermissions when it would load up those all-white screens with the chapter title, the screen would go no-signal and then reacquired the signal.

It's how the TV handles it, not the fault of the console. My TV is perfectly fine with it, my projector does some of the things you describe and doesn't handle it as well (same thing on the 360 when there are resolution changes).

But I suppose this time over, they'll have the ps4 scaling everything to 1080p by default, so there shouldn't be as many resolution changes. Only people who are going to be watching 4k content are potentially going to deal with something like this.
