The standard isn't even 1080p at 60fps yet. Getting way ahead of yourselfs people.

I don't even see it happening in the next next gen.

The PS4 cant even game in 4k, its the recorded playback that'll be in 4k. Sonys thinking long term, while 4k tvs are expensive as f***, they wont be in a few years, and gamers will eventually upgrade to 4k.

Not happening, Metro LL requires 2 Titans to run at 4K, that's not fully maxed. It'll be at least 2 years before PC Graphic cards are even capable of it without cutting detail, no way in hell would the PS4 be capable of doing it unless it's just for movies

Exactly. Sonys even sad they'd come out with a 4K movie streaming service. Thinking long term,

The HDMI standards body only just finalized HDMI 2.0, which is required for 4k above 30fps. So unless you're willing to game at 30fps, you don't want 4k from the PS4 anyway.

I would, but it violates an axiom I live by.

To get the full benefit of the potential resolution increase of "4K" display technology at even a modest 5 foot viewing distance you'd need an 80" (diagonal) screen/TV!!!

Trust me gents, 4K ain't doing anything significant sales wise anytime soon ;) It'll be neat for movie theaters and possibly computer monitors within 5 years or so, but for full size TV's? Can you say cost prohibitive!

3D games probably won't be possible by the end of the generation.

2D games, though...Rayman runs at 60 FPS in 1080p on a PS3. I'm sure they can bump that up to 4K for the PS4.

Wow, even 1080p needs at least 40in screens to take advantage of it. My 32's not cutting it.
