How to manually Record Gameplay each time and never miss a moment

After hours of testing yesterday, I'm confident on how to record gameplay each time without relying on hitting the Share button in hopes of it saving. We all know that method is very inconsistent. I've heard many different stories on how to record and stop recording after a game session so please keep all negative comments to yourselves.

How to start recording and capture a game session

During a game session, simply DOUBLE TAP the Share button. You will then see red dot pop up on the top right of your screen indicating your game session is now being recorded. After your game session is over and you want to stop recording, push the Share button ONCE. Once the Share menu comes up, DO NOT exit right away. Wait about 10-15 seconds or until after you see a video preview playing inside of the "Upload Video Clip" portion of the Share menu. After you see this, hit the Share button once more to exit.

To confirm your video clip or game session did indeed record, hit the PS button to access the Playstation menu. Go to your profile, scroll over twice to the right until the cursor highlights a folder icon. Click that and your last recorded game session will be in that folder.

How to record and capture a game session while Live Streaming

You are free to start broadcasting live at any time possible. To capture a game session while live streaming, simply DOUBLE TAP the share button to start recording the game session from that point. After your game session is over and you want to stop recording to save the session, hit the Share button ONCE to bring up the menu. From there, you will need to STOP the broadcast.

After you have stopped the broadcast, it will take you back to the game. After that, hit the Share button ONCE to capture the gameplay of the session you have just recorded. You will again need to wait 10-15 seconds or until after you see a video preview playing inside of the "Upload Video Clip" portion of the Share menu. After you see this, hit the Share button once more to exit.

For example, you are playing CoD Ghost online and you start to record before a Team Deathmatch. Let's say you didn't have the good game you had hoped. Simply DOUBLE TAP to start recording the next session. No need to stop the broadcast or bring up the Share menu.

Hope this help! I will try to get a sticky for this topic.

Has anyone here tried restarting their system (ie, not just leaving it in standby?). Someone on the PS forums said that fixes the 15 min recording problem.

The last 15 mins method is still inconsistent even after a full restart. There definitely needs to be a patch.

Is there a way to actually watch the footage you record?

Nobody's perfect, but when you're from Scotland you're pretty damn close!

Awesome. Thank you for the info. I have many moments in BF4 that I thought I captured and realized it didn't save. And I was doing it the way it said in the capture menu. So many missed moments T_T
