A peak at the new Xbox from a dev working on it:

So does it have blu-ray?

I'm assuming so if what this guy saying is true. It was in the VGleaks about the Durango.

Even if the VG leaks is not true, there pretty much a certain that it will be blu ray. HD DVD's lost so what else would Microsoft use?

I think everyone in the gaming world weather you are a Nintendrone, Sony Pony, Xbot or part of the Master Race can agree that Pachter should be fired.

OS/Services: I wish I knew more about this, but I honestly donít. I have no clue what sort of new ideas MS are going to bring to the table this gen, but Iím certainly expecting them to amaze.
The only thing that I do know for definite is that Durango will be running Windows 8. It will essentially be the full version of the OS, minus the desktop side of things. This means itíll be running the new WinRT framework, which as a side effect also means that contrary to popular belief MS will be the most indie friendly of all the big 3 next gen.
This is because any app/game that is created for the Windows app store will (after adding controller support of course) be playable on Durango.
In other words, any random person worldwide can pay Microsoft a $60 license fee (for the Windows Store) and submit their app/game to the store where millions of people can then download/buy it. No expensive development kits needed

OH . MY . GOD. 0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0

If this is true then the nextbox will be THE best console ever.Bar none.

All in all, these news are so AWESOOOOME that it puts The Miz to shame :D.

He mostly just revealed little issues people have, and also stated he didn't have any idea what they were bringing to the table.

It can't be this simple, can it?
I get that Microsoft is getting a (deservedly) bad rep right now in how they've been handling Indie & XBLA developers, but this seems too much like an about face. It's like Microsoft saying "you thought we were too controlling? Well, give us the license fee and just have at it to your hearts desire."
There's got to for sure still be some regulation to what / when digital games are available to Durango. If just about anybody can make a game for the Windows Store, and have it available to every Neo XBOX, then wouldn't there be a glut of porn games suddenly showing up in a home video game console?

Apps in the Windows 8 store have a pretty strict approval process, including

5.4 Your app must not contain or display content that a reasonable person would consider to be obscene or pornographic

Name an app store without those restrictions.

the 3DO's ;).

Not sure if this is true, but it does fall in line with Microsoft's supposed strategy which would make it a good fake rumor if it isn't true.

I believe Microsoft's goal was to integrate PCs, Phones, and Consoles with one (Windows 8) OS. So I would think they want "apps" to be cross compatible with your all of your Win8 devices. Obviously this would be similar to the WiiU console/tablet thing.

If what he says is true, doesn't sound like gimmicks to me. Sounds pretty solid. Most especially the SOC/BC thing. It's a wanted feature that Sony is possibly ignoring this generation, so that could be one thing MS will have up on Sony. (though we don't know how Gaikai is going to work yet, so that could nullify MS's advantage if it's awesome)

Other than that, as long as the system isn't going to require always online to play games, it should be a big seller. I'm pretty sure the features in the PS4 and Nextbox will be pretty comparable so it will probably once again come down to game preferences (which is narrowing more and more with nearly every third party game going multi-platform)

For me, it's where Japanese developers decide to put their games. Most likely that means a PS4. But we'll see.

And for the record, I DO think that MS was seriously considering always-online for the 720, but are now scrapping it because of fan backlash. I honestly think that's why the announcement was pushed back a month.

2013: Next Gen finally arrives. Don't let us down like Nintendo did.
#30whatnow12012Posted 4/20/2013 5:59:47 PM
To me, I have no plans to move to Gen 8 consoles until 2015 I have un-covered 2 New games

1st is Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection - this will have all 4 MGS including Peace Walker from the PSP the game has been remade in HD with Trophy Support.

But according to my research, the Legacy collection will be PS3 only.

The 2nd new game I have found is Armored Core - Victory this game will be on both the 360 and the Playstation 3 it is the 1st Expansion to Armored Core V. It will arrive in Japan later this Winter.

So with games coming to current consoles still I see no reason to move on other than Exclusive next gen games like The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.

Also they are saying Dragon Age 3 will be on all CONSOLES, current & Next being PS4 and the Durrango.

While the Current Versions will not be as powerful as the Next Gen versions of Dragon Age 3 and also Dragon Age 3 will be more superior on Next with more Bells & Whistles also Tools also MOCAP work has began on Dragon Age 3. The game Uses Frostbite 3 now not Frostbite 2.

Think how of the upcoming God Eater 2 for the PSP & The PS Vita will be on the PS Vita God 2 will be more superior than the PSP version of the game the same deal will happen with Dragon Age 3. Also remember to keep the saves from Origins & Dragon Age 2 for importing into 3.

So with games like Remember ME, South Park, Lightining Returns, WWE 2K14, Dragon Age, Armored Core, I ask this why are people wanting next gen consoles now anyways.

To my knowledge current consoles will be supported until 2015 well the Playstation 3 will be but unsure on how long MS will support the 360.

Also I am upgrading my current 360 to the Super Sim 360 250 GB one so that also is another reason I have no plans to jump to GEN 8 CONSOLES.

Most games will indeed be ALL CONSOLES such as Dragon Age 3 to BattleField 4 which both of those use FROSTBITE 3.

So all this ALWAYS ONLINE is useless to me, I have no plans to jump to GEN 8.

Also I just bought me PS Vita and a 3DS with that I am super busy.

NEXT GEN 8 ISNT EVEN ON MY RADAR !!!
