No one has asked about batteries.

Will this thing still use AA batteries? And do I still need a plug and play kit to charge it?

Battery is built in
Charged via usb.

The reason you see a compartment is because the battery can actually be changed.

Yes but you can now charge it via USB now like the Wii U and PS3/PS4.

I've seen conflicting reports on this. An IGN article claims that it will be rechargeable by USB. I'm wondering if it will be similar to the 360, where you can either use a rechargeable battery pack or regular AAs.

What day and age is Microsoft living in? Unable to be charged through a usb when your competitors do it with ease? Ridiculous.

Why go to the park and fly a kite, when you can just pop a pill?

There's a rechargeable battery pack, but you can use AA batteries if you want. I guess it's useful if you refuse to play with a cord but don't want to wait for it to charge, you can throw in some batteries.

If given the choice, I'll take AA over non-replaceable lithium ion any day of the week. At least for controllers.
