You are seriously like the 3rd person Ive seen make this exact same topic. NO ONE BUT YOU GUYS think it will send video back. So ####### drop this charade. It will collect data on you, and THAT ALONE is the main cause for concern/consumer backlash. All you are doing tc, is proving how much of a corporate schtick you are..

If this is true, then I have trouble seeing what differentiates this from what Facebook, Google, Apple, etc, etc already does.

I understand the backlash against the used game blocking and some of the other issues, but this is just like...huh? I just don't get it.

Some people don't want every facet of their god dammned lives corporatized in some manner. Is it not enough to buy the console? Does yet another facet of our lives have to turn into product research for ****ing corporations? Now what foodstuffs I enjoy and what Tv commercials I won't sit through are being tracked?

It's dehumanizing. Be a number not a human. Just one reason I'm not buying an X1.

very good points. The mentality of the corporations is much like we are their cattle and they need to know how best to herd us.

I guess I've just accepted that as part of living in this country (yay capitalism!). I mean, as long as they don't cross very real boundaries then, whatever.

Some boundaries I have are:

-No sending out my info to third parties
-ALWAYS have an opt out option for any type of info tracking
-Have a comprehensive legal disclaimer detailing every bit of data being tracked that everyone can see at anytime

Beyond that, if I'm playing Halo 5 and it recognizes that I have mountain dew on my coffee table, and then gives me an xp boost or something because of it, I could care less.

And over the years, corporations are going to slowly keep pushing those boundaries and people start accepting more dangerous business practices. The mandatory kinect is one huge step in a direction we shouldn't allow them to go.

What a rip off. No longer buying.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go back to dancing naked in the window.

OK, so this is just the natural cycle of things then. Corporations will push as much as they can and consumers will push back until a balance is found.

Based on that idea, I can see why the push back on Kinect and potential tracking.

Not only is it just common sense that 1080p video could not be streamed sustainably from all homes/ISPs, but MS has come out and said that what they get is just the basic data.

For example, if Kinect 2.0 recognizes that 2 users are in the room and one is drinking Pepsi, it could process and store that info as 1's and 0's on MS's servers.

That's it.

Nobody will be watching you play naked. Nobody will be poring over actual video of you taking a nap on your couch.

In reality, the type of information stored wouldn't be much different from what's tracked right now (i.e. how long you played, what games, what friends you talked to, who you gamed with, etc).

I guarantee you that MS will write up a legal disclaimer stating that video will not be streamed/stored on their servers (unless you specifically agree to it in game-specific situations, like posting videos of you dancing in a dance game or something). If they were to breach this privacy agreement, they would liable to massive legal damages, and you know this would be leaked no matter how hard they tried to keep it quiet.

You see, that was the only fun that I ever could have imagined having with the kinect :(

Guess what they do with the info the collect? That's right sell it to third parties, they can make money selling your info to advertisers and having ads tailored to what the system thinks you would buy or the ads that get a reaction out of you. There is very little benefit to MS to gather all of that data unless they sell it to advertisers

They do.. A LOT of Google's money comes from ad revenue and learning how best to use the info they gather from us. I don't have any problem with them tracking mean if it means better goods and services in the future. It's not like they are tracking me to find out my secrets. However I'm trying to find out how the much more the kinect plays into equation.
