Pros and Cons of DDR3 (Xbox One)

Most people freaking out over it likely don't even know what RAM does, let alone the difference between DDR3 and GDDR5. And truth be told, it's not even something that the average Joe should be concerned about.

DDR3 is faster for small data transfers (think apps) due to lower latency.
DDR5 is better for bigger data transfers (think video games) due to higher latency.


It's somewhat aided by the eSRAM, but that is also aimed more at small data transfer, so once again, more aimed toward apps instead of actual video games.


That said, no one knows how exactly MS will implement all of it in it's design, so no one really knows which one of the two will perform better.

On paper, the DDR5 is better for video games, the DDR3 is better for Skype and such.

I believe people are more irritated by it because PS4, using GDDR5, is $100 less.
