Does anyone really think the Xbox One negativity will hurt sales?

I'm talking specifically about $100 more expensive, no headset included, no old peripherals work, the DRM backlash, less powerful than PS4, their poor relationship with Indies, the focus on TV and other non-gaming features, the fact that Live is more expensive than PS Plus which offers more content, the poor way they have handled the media, how The Cloud has risen to meme status, Kinect adding cost and possibly spying on you, the involvement with PRISM, the bad image they put on themselves with the "always on/no used games" mantra, the unfinished Forza situation, the lackluster mash to win exclusive Ryse, the former hardware issues with Xbox 360, the console being huge and much bigger than PS4, the non-removable HDD, the removal of the Family Share Plan, friends list 1000 smaller than PS4, all games must be installed, internet connection must be used at least once, free to play games possibly being behind a pay wall, Kinect Sports getting delayed, the One getting blown away on Amazon by PS4, the name "Xbone", using AA batteries in the controller instead of internal rechargeable, the console not launching this year in many countries, the One being a water cooler.

Honestly, this changes nothing. The console is going to sell great and will probably become the market leader.

Yes.

The General Public, aka 99% of the people who buy video game consoles, will have had no idea about the DRM backlash, the Kinect controversy, etc. Gamers, obviously, are aware of them but your average joe that will buy this console won't be.

The people that buy consoles at launch are mostly the gamers who follow gaming news and such.

So at launch, yes. Later on down the line it will depend on price and what games average people get spoon fed advertisements for.

Exactly. Most gamers don't pay attention to the media or even visit video game sites.

Many people know about the Kinect issue who are not what you would call your regular "gamers." Many parents groups are spreading the word about this.

Also, many shoppers can tell the difference between $400 and $500 at the checkout line.

Initially, yes. Due to the people who buy consoles early being the ones most in touch with the current gaming news, they will be less inclined to buy the Xbone over the PS4 due to the negative press and bad decisions MS has made.

Later on? Very possible, mainly due to those NOT following the news on games only watching the pricing and games available. They will see that the PS4 has more games available (if the rumors pan out) and has a lower price, and will go for that system instead.

Yes, because the negativity has gone outside of core gaming. The xbone has been trashed in magazines and TV shows that aren't aimed at gamers, like Forbes. Even the army has spoken against it.

When Mrs Smith goes to buy an Xbone, she's not going to remember anything about DRM and stuff like that. However, she's going to remember that the Xbone doesn't support the troops and that it spies on her child. That's why it's going to do bad on sales.
