as in, it's a marketing gimmick and a hollow phrase for fanboys to throw around even though it's ultimately meaningless

Pretty much.

Especially since no-one here has had any experience with it, yet we still can't win any arguments with the the persistent Xboners.
Until MS remove all the other negatives on the Xbox One, I'm still not getting it.

let's look at some facts, shall we?

promise of the cloud: nearly unlimited processing power by doing the actual processing in the cloud, eliminating the hardware limitations of the console itself

reality: bandwidth caps are prevalent and ubiquitous access to high-speed internet is a myth that's several years, if not a whole decade, away from being reality.

conclusion: the cloud doesn't do jack s**** until the internet infrastructure around the world is improved massively

The Cloud works, it's unlimited.

I am no tech insider and have no time machine to see what tech advances we have next month or next year, I see most people on here know what will happen and have invested wisely so they can retire very rich next year.

you don't have to be a tech insider or possess a time machine to realize that cap-free, high speed internet connections aren't going to just *poof* into existence over night.
fiber optic cables don't grow naturally in the ground. they have to be put there manually, which takes time and costs money.

The irony is, nVidia came up with cloud based graphics processing, while both consoles chose AMD.

Didn't somebody post about how cloud is not a gimmick already, or should I just post it? I have the article, as always :)
