Didn't MS encourage people to hack the original Kinect?

And we all know it will take one hacking attempt on the Xbone until you know what happens.

I smell a possible conspiracy here.

Actually, this is why I have no hope for Kinect 2.0. The mods people could do with the original kinect were so crazy awesome and futuristic, yet the games we're terribad. I will never be fooled by a "Project Milo" again, at least when it comes to official games.

Yes and no. They were highly against it at first but after seeing what fans were doing with it they released a Kinect SDK as well as a "PC Only" Kinect.

TC doesn't understand the difference between hacking a singular piece of hardware and hacking over a network. Sigh.

Uh is the TC serious or was this a joke where he pretends to be really stupid?

As for Kinect functions, games never utilized them because it was an optional peripheral released at the end of the year. All the crazy things people did with Kinect just shows how much potentional a much stronger Kinect 2.0 will be when it is a mandatory part of the system from day one, not some add on in year 6 of a console cycle.

Pretty much sums it up. I know whne it first came out, some guy hacked it to be used with the PC for like 3D modeling and Microsoft was in a uproar over it pursuing legal action against the guy. Didn't keep up with it topic, but i know eventually they did back off after seeing what could be done with the Kinect by hacking it.

I still don't get why people are celebrating the manditoryness of Kinect...sure bundle them with each console...but it having to be connected to use your system is just suspicious to me

Yes. You don't seem to understand that. The people who "hack" kinect are running it off of software on computers, not on Xbox. You can't magically inject code into a closed system to hack someone else's kinect.

Sorry, off topic, but how is TC a new user? I remember seeing that name long before I registered here. It's not exactly the kind of name you forget.
