Why do Americans like their video game consoles to be so much bigger?

The first XBOX was bigger than the PS2, now from the pics the XBOX ONE is gonna be bigger than the PS4, why does this keep happening in America?

If other companies like Google or Apple made video game consoles, they'd be small and sleek

I'm American. If the size of the console was the difference between one console and another, I'd choose the smaller one. So I think your generalization is pretty off-base.

At the time everything was getting bigger and it looked like it was stuffed with everything godly inside (shiny and powerful). I don't see it happening again.
