So what can the console do without Xbox Live Gold?

#41Connavar87Posted 8/14/2013 3:54:49 PM
Really pointless to even discuss this. The vast majority of players will pay for gold, and the vast majority of players will pay for ps+ just to play multiplayer. Thus everything else is irrelevant.

For me Xbox offers way more with its multimedia capabilities than anything sony has to offer with ps+. Shoot just the DVR capability alone is worth the gold cost alone, save hundreds compared to paying a cable company for it.

Games aside Xbox is far better than playstation. The fact that I really only play fps its an obvious choice for me to get Xbox 1 given the controller and games.

Forgot to mention that the DVR will not be available right away but a likely addition.

Wait, what's this about the DVR? Last I read it was only a game DVR and only recorded a few minutes. Did they change it to TV stuff as well?

At this moment it is game DVR only, however microsoft said that could be added in the future.

Oh the Sony Ponies never fail to create fake controversy!

It's not "fake controversy" that MicroSoft is charging consumers for services that not only are the consumers already paying for, but that every single competing device offers without any such fee.

It's f***ing stupid is what it is. Especially when they could corner the gaming market altogether by simply obliterating XBox Live Gold as a concept, offering every Gold service for free, and funding it all with the ample revenue they get from their Dashboard ads. If they did that, they would win, hands-down.

But they won't because there's more money to be made milking the consumers they do retain than by bringing in more consumers with consumer-friendly moves like that.

I never had a gold account. Never hurt my feelings. But hiding Netflix and all that behind the Gold is slimy, greedy. So neflix runs on my PS3, Wii U just fine. The U has wonky setup on the pad tho.

Going by the 360 launch... well at least you don't need Gold to have it RRoD! :D

You talk of this function like it is almost a sure thing. You should probably wait until something more substantial than an article from May. Considering how much cable companies nickle and dime their customers, when MS finally gets that deal with the major players MS is probably going to increase the cost of XBL again >_>
