No. They're both made on a smaller fabrication than what current PS3/Xbox 360's are, which means less power consumption and heat. If they overheat, then there HAS to be a serious design flaw in them.

Definitely not the PS4. The entire back almost is a vent and it uses less power than the PS3 Slim. Considering it's about the same size as PS3 Slim, uses less power, and has a ginormous vent in the back, there's no reason it shouldn't run cooler than the PS3 Slim and thus have a lower failure rate than the PS3 Slim, which is pretty low. X1 on the other hand, they still haven't finalized the specs yet which doesn't lend much confidence to them having a console that will run smoothly.

PS4 is smaller, has less ventilation, and has an extra heat generating component (PSU) in the case. If any console is in trouble of overheating, it's PS4.

Neither will. Especially not the Xbox. Microsoft certainly couldn't be happy spending a billion on fixing 360s, so they must be adamant on that not happening again.

These consoles have both been in development for so much longer than the 360/PS3, allowing higher quality architecture.

The xbone has already been confirmed to have massive heating issues due to the esram which will require them to underclock the cpu and gpu by 50% more than it is now.

It's almost 100% factually incorrect as well. The only thing he got right is that the PS4 is smaller. The PS4 is 78% the size of the PS3 Slim (260 sq. in. vs. 333 sq. in.). The PS4 has more ventilation though. Just compare these two pictures.

Also, it doesn't have an extra heat generating component. The PS3 Slim also has the PSU inside it as it does not have a "power brick" on the power cord.

So, in conclusion, the PS4 is slightly smaller than the PS3 Slim, has more ventilation, has the same number of heat generating parts as the PS3, and consumes less power (thus running cooler) than the PS3 Slim.

I doubt it. MS lost a lot of money on the RROD and I don't think that they want to go through that again. That could be why the console is big and the top of it is a huge vent with other vents on the side. The PS4 also looks well ventilated. So you really shouldn't have a problem with either console.
