Microsoft should have focused more of their preorders in Europe

Instead of cutting it in favor for the U.S.

They only had a moderate success over there compared to Sony. Instead of now having 13 less countries to support the One, they should have cut preorders here in the States as the brand-loyal fanboys here would have waited anyways instead of getting the PS4.

After releasing the system at a later date.

If they really wanted a stranglehold on Europe, they should have done a launch day bundled with FIFA (or at least made available for purchase on or near that date)

After all, do you really think Europeans have the same kind of loyalty to the Xbox brand than Americans do?

Uh, they have very specific reasons for not launching in the countries they "dropped" and none of them have to do with a lack of consoles, so I have no idea what you're going on about.

So you actually believe that "we don't have localization for you guys" bit they put out and not that they're short on consoles?

lol.

The US is the premium place for MS. If there is a massive shortage and there is a very significant amount of people who don't get their Xbox preorder, there will be hell to pay. And after what has happened Microsoft really needs a smooth launch to steady the ship and keep goodwill with their customers so that they can spread WOM.

They did the right thing....They ABSOLUTELY cannot afford to lose the Merica.

They'd have no other place to go.

You guys act as if fanboys in the states would abandon the Xbox brand for the PS4.
Hint: they won't. Or if they did, would have been at a less rate than what people overseas would have done.
You're giving too little credit to the fanbase here in America.

By announcing they're cutting markets, they basically saying that these countries aren't as important which leaves a bad taste in gamers (and devs) mouths.
The smarter action would have been to cut preorder numbers behind the scenes so those people over there would have been "Oh wow, they sold out the One quickly. Better be ready for the next run production"
Instead they're thinking "****, now we're tier 2 countries?" after the no-release announcement and now are considering the PS4.

You mean how Sony left a bad taste in gamers and devs mouths when they turned every country exept USA and Japan into tier 2 countries?
Wait, people accepted it, just how they accept this!

Source for Sony saying that and developers responding to it?
