C/D this is this first generation of consoles without a "strongest" console

C

For the past couple generations I feel like people knew beforehand what the most powerful system was.
Ex.
1.Xbox
2.Ps2
3.Gamecube

1.Ps3
2.Xbox 360
3.Wii

1.?
2.?
3.Wii U
4. Ouya Wtf is an ouya

They both seem like they blow last gen out of the water, but it's hard to say which does it more.

PS4 has 5GB GDDR for games which is great for graphics as well as having more cores
Xbox has 5GB DDR for games as well as having eSram and faster memory access

Edited out some issues

I will confirm that this won't end well.

I will try and see it from your point of view, but I doubt we'll be able to fit both our heads up there.

How is this a topic when everyone knows the PS4 is much more powerful

Dream on..

Deny. The entire industry consensus tells us that the PS4 is the "strongest". Implying otherwise just seems like an insincere attempt to seem even-handed and fair at the expense of everything we know.

*Obligatory disclaimer: Developers matter! X360>PS3 in multiplatform games!

As of the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii generation strength is pretty much irrelevant.

There's only so much more technology can make things 'look prettier' but who cares if the gameplay is the same since 1996.

I say that because the N64/PS gave us a new dimension to work with. After that, what more can be done?

Eh, I don't know. I still think there's tangible benefits to gamers for increasing the resolution of textures, lighting and particle effects looking better, less pop-in and further draw distances, lower load times, etc. Part of why I play games is to be immersed in their worlds, and while story-telling and gameplay are important parts of that, so is graphical fidelity.

Last gen was worse with the whole Ps3 using a different architecture thing. This gen so far all signs point to the Ps4 just being flat out better.
