Cloud powered gaming (Forza 5)

So lemme try to summarize this video. Cloud will essentially make AI more like actual real players, instead of just artificial intelligence. And as I get better in the game, my Drivatar will get better too. Also, while I'm away from my console, my Drivatar is still racing, and getting me stuff.

Dedicated servers are very easy to get now, so there will be much less lag when playing online. You could be playing someone from another country. It doesn't matter.

Cloud will also allow dynamic achievements. Like 2 months after a game released, like Forza 5, they could just add an achievement for driving top speed for 10 seconds. Who knows. I just made that up.

Clouds not required for dynamic achievements, that's just new.

Everything else, more or less spot on.

That's not all it does, just one particular use.

I'm not a racing games fan. I've only played Burnout games and Midnight Club, but this game has my interest.

I've got a few questions teacher.

1: Why is it the Cloud that "allows" for this instead of the XBox One doing it itself?

2: Um... why is this all bulls*** anyway?

Seriously, it's basically a bunch of rambling about how the Cloud "enables" stuff, and then a list of ethereal ideas that games have been trying to do for years and failing at (because AI not behaving like AI is basically impossible). He doesn't even say HOW the Cloud is supposed to do any of this.

Good servers already do this... like, you know, Steam servers, which already exist.

They can do that now with patches. They just don't because it's a dumb idea.

Ok let's get the facts straight with Forza's use of the cloud. When you are playing the game, "the cloud" WILL NOT be controlling the other car's AI. The AI will be computed locally in real time on the console just like every other Forza game. The only thing that the cloud does is analyze your driving patterns to create a custom AI that drives like you. Your friends and others can then download this custom AI into their games.

The key thing to note here is that the cloud doesn't improve the AI at all. It is only used for personalization. The developers could have just as easily precomputed 100 different AI driving patterns and included them on the install disk. In fact I would be surprised if they did not do just that so that the game would work without needing an internet connection.
