My friend told me Ryse looks like crap because it has a lot of quick time events

This is the same friend that told me that Heavy Rain is the best game ever made.

No QTEs at all is what I've been hearing since the private E3 demos. Just optional executions for perks with onscreen "QTE" button prompts unless you raise the difficulty.

I thought they got rid of the on-screen button prompts and replaced them with the outlines of the color of the buttons on the enemy that you need to press?

I might be wrong but I've always heard it depends on the difficulty setting whether you get obvious or subtle prompts for the optional executions.

Ryse does look like crap... loads of it...

That said Heavy Rain was the least game game ever made... And I mean that as negatively as possible. That was a STRUGGLE to get through.

Heavy Rain is a game suited towards that type of gameplay, while Ryse isn't. I'll compare it to another game. Quick time events work much better in a story based game like Heavy Rain than they would in a racing game like Forza. It's not very hard to understand. You're trying to make your friend seem like a hypocrite, when they really aren't.

Ryse is looking like could be the perfect example of a (maybe) good game destroyed by a stupid reveal. The developers are clearly doing damage control - either explaining why things are like the way they are, or making changes based on feedback - but it's equally clear that this damage control just is not filtering through. The dominant impression of the game is still the first one, based on what was surely the most imbecilic reveal of the past few years. It was utterly stupid, idiotic beyond belief, and it's going to have the likely effect of both improving the game (because changes were obviously needed) and ruining its sales.

Indeed, it's almost mirroring the very "successful" reveal of the Xbox One. With Ryse like this, the Watching dogs trailer on the official xbox channel only showing PS4 controls and such, the future outlook for Xbox One games this year looks grim. :| Big shame really.
