HDD: 500GB (expandable via USB3.0)

A/V input: HDMI

The biggest difference between Xbox One and other devices is its use of HDMI Passthrough. With the HDMI input you can turn any HDMI compatible device into an Xbox One app. Not all devices will have kinect voice command functionality and will require their standard input device.

Controller
The standard controller is now wireless and has so many changes from it’s 360 counterpart it could have a FAQ page all to itself. The major improvements here are the added grip textures on the analog sticks, a far superior d-pad to move away from the disk model which many would say is the 360 controller’s only flaw, the integrated AA battery compartment to give it a far more visually appealing aesthetic and the newest addition: Impulse Triggers. With Impulse triggers both triggers have a small rumble motor to give more responsive feedback to events happening on screen.

A Play and Charge Kit will be available at launch and will include a special USB micro cable which will be able to tell you when your controller is fully charged. Any USB micro cable will be able to charge the Play and Charge Kit.

A PC Wireless Receiver is planned to be released in 2014.

Day One A special Day One commemorative controller is available for those lucky enough to get a Day One edition Xbox On. This controller is the same as the standard controller except that it has “Day One 2013” etched in the middle.

Kinect 2.0
With a wide lense 1080p camera the Kinect 2.0 has a much larger area of vision and is able to function in spaces too small or crowded for the original Kinect for Xbox 360. Not only can this reworked system track up to 6 players, it is able to know which player is holding the controller and switch accounts without the players needing to log in again. With its infrared sensor it is also able to track players in poor lighting conditions (bad lighting to no light at all) which rendered the original kinect unusable. This new Kinect is capable of tracking things like fingers and heart rate.

With its powerful IR blaster it is capable of changing the channel on your cable box without the need of direct line of sight as most IR based remotes, so placement of the kinect is not an issue.

HDMI cable
4k rated HDMI cable 6ft (~2m) in length

(Note: 4K is for video playback, not gaming content)

Chat Headset
Standard mono over the head headset

A special code will be included for an exclusive achievement for those lucky enough to get a Day One edition of the XBox One.

**Fifa 14 or Forza 5 redeem code [Europe Only]

Xbox Live Gold
MSRP
3 months: $25
1 year: $60

The online multiplayer you have come to know from Xbox 360 and Xbox Live is coming back to Xbox One in a whole new way. Gone are the days of P2P and worrying about host advantage. And now only Xbox Live Gold membership is shared across the console which means if you have multiple family members in the home and all have separate accounts, only one member needs Gold for all members to see Gold benefits.

Cloud Gaming
Xbox One plus the cloud is the way to unlock the Xbox One’s true potential.

Azure Servers:
Xbox One is to have 300,000 servers world wide at launch and that is just a portion of the servers of the larger Azure System. With these servers Xbox One is doing dedicated servers in a whole new way. You may have heard of cases like Diablo 3, or Sim City 2013, or Final Fantasy XIV where the company underestimated the number of servers they will need at launch and planned on how many servers they would need a month or so into the game’s lifecycle. Azure Servers dynamically scale to meet the necessary network load of each game.

Cloud Processing:
Another feature to come to come to Xbox One with the Cloud is Cloud Processing. With Cloud Processing your console does not have to do all the work alone and instead can send data to the cloud to be processed improving AI, texture loading, draw distances among other tasks.

Policy/Feature Changes

Used Games
Used games can be played on Xbox One. As such you may trade-in your games at any retailer that accepts trade-ins or sell or give away your games on your own.

Connectivity
A 24 hour check in is no longer required to play your games, although a Day One download will be required for the console to function properly.

Mandatory Kinect
Kinect is no longer required to be connected for your console to work. That means if your kinect happens to fall and break the console will still function, or if you choose you can not connect the kinect.

Instant Game Switching
Instant game switching was to be a feature in which you install the game to your hard drive and can switch between games without needing to put in a disk.
Because the 24-hour check-in is no longer required Instant Game Switching is now a feature exclusive to digital downloads. Installing the game is still required for retail disks and putting the disk in the drive is required to play the game.

Family Sharing
Family Sharing was to be a system in which your top 10 friends would be able to access your games library from their console. Only one person can use a game license at a time so you and a friend cannot play together at the same time off of a single game purchase. The amount of game content accessible varied from report to report. Some said it was the whole game, others said it would be single player only, others said it was a 1 hour demo.
Because the 24-hour check-in is no longer required the Family Sharing function has been dropped at this time, but may see a return as a feature exclusive to digital downloads.

Other FAQs

Q: Can I use my current gamertag on Xbox One and will my Gamerscore and Achievements transfer?

A: Yes. Your current Xbox Live Gamertag will stay with you on Xbox One if you choose to keep it, and your hard-earned Gamerscore and Achievements will indeed carry over from Xbox 360.

Q: Will my current Xbox Live Gold membership work with Xbox One or will I have to buy a new one?
A: You do not need to buy a new Xbox Live Gold membership. Your current membership will work on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Q: Why require Kinect with every Xbox One?

A: The all new Kinect is now an essential and integrated part of the platform. By having it as a consistent part of every Xbox One, game and entertainment creators can build experiences that assume the availability of voice, gesture and natural sensing, leading to unrivalled ease of use, premium experiences and interactivity for you.

Q: Do I need to have a specific cable or satellite TV provider to watch live TV on Xbox?
A: Our goal is to enable live TV through Xbox One in every way that it is delivered throughout the world, whether that’s television service providers, over the air or over the Internet, or HDMI-in via a set top box (as is the case with many providers in the US). The delivery of TV is complex and we are working through the many technologies and policies around the world to make live TV available where Xbox One is available.

Q: Xbox One is a more powerful product compared to Xbox 360, but does it also use more power?

A: By providing multiple power states in Xbox One, we’ve balanced energy efficiency with functionality. We’ve taken a completely different approach to how Xbox One consumes power. It only uses the power it needs at that particular moment for the task at hand.

I do believe nothing has been stated that the 4K resolution is strictly video playback and not games as far as Xbox One is concerned.

Other than that, very well done. Relatively quick and informative.
