Could Microsoft have a big surprise for Xbox One?

That's pretty tough to believe. The theories are reaching pretty hard now.

A) If this technology is an undisclosed secret, how does the rumor author know its exact details?
B) Why would Xbox allow their supplier that kind of power over important selling-point information?
Surely, the potential suppliers need to compete and give Xbox some leverage?
C) I don't believe Microsoft is the kind of company who takes the lower hand or bows to terms in a partnership.

This idea seems really far fetched and unlikely.

Ummmm how do things get leaked about any government agency? And have you never heard of a NDA, do you know how vicious corporate lawyers can be?

First, the person who posted those links with the PR reps from Microsoft, they never said Hardware, but programmers. They're just saying with the right programmers the raw power of the system does not matter as much, it's about developmental talent that and they go on about how they have the best in the world.

Even tho Microsoft can't even include a damn start in Windows 8 and second there is no logic behind Microsoft having any type of NDA regarding this technology and AMD is also fairly straight forward with everything they're working on.

Oh look, 9970 specs

and two, the TDP of the Xbox One is 100 Watt

So far the only thing capable of that many shaders, just the shader of the Dgpu is 250 watts or more. So AMD has managed to completely cut the TDP of that by 250% and everything else doesn't even contribute to the TDP

It's impossible, that would be the greatest shrink in history., ever..

Hey, just wondering if you came all the way over here from the PS4 board... Either because:

#1 PS4 fans on that board, don't care about the Xbox ONE and didn't bite on your post about 'they are over there waiting for 25th of sept for AMD to reveal thier Voodoo magic chip' (paraphrased)

Or

#2 you like wasting your time posting about something your clearly not interested in just to try to 'debunk' a rumor that is 'impossible'

I think its both #1 & #2....

It seems like this theory hinges on a lot of "what ifs" and loose speculation.
Until there's any solid evidence of it, it seems like heavy straw-grasping.

Personally, I don't believe Xbox would enter into an agreement that lets their console look falsely weaker than the competitor during the crucial launch competition. I think that very idea is ludicrous. I doubt either company was willing to pull any punches on announcements.

There's also the issue of hardware costs. According to a certain marketing director, Xbox is apparently supposed to "break even on each sale". The Kinect 2 is also said to cost almost as much as the console to manufacture. It's arguably a big stretch to envision any other graphical hardware fitting into that budget.

So clueless
I don't play that game. No personal insults/judgments.
You get one warning, then ignored. You can ignore me instead if you choose.
One way or another, keep the debate to the console itself.

The biggest reason that Microsoft and the XboxOne are getting their asses kicked at the moment is because of the "under-powered, over-priced" thing. If the console wasn't under-powered it wouldn't be over-priced; don't you think that if Microsoft could change this dynamic, they would have by now? It's single-handedly costing them the console race. This isn't one of those "Yeah, we're comfortable about our ace-in-the-hole, we got this!" moments, this is an "all hands on deck, we're getting killed!" situation and if they could change this they would have.

The Xbox One being underpowered is not the reason why MS are struggling. It's the DRM incident that's causing them to lose the console race, as well as being overpriced.

If they had a big surprise, they needed to reveal it BEFORE everyone wallet voted.

At this point, it wouldn't make much sense, when they can no longer affect the competition's sold-out pre-orders.

I'd be extremely surprised if they had an ace but didn't play it before reversing policies and letting things get to that point.

Yep.

Also I don't know why anyone would believe MS anymore after all the lies at that point. You just know that DRM and online authentication is coming back too.

Not to mention the shoe-in-mouth syndrome MS executives have...which is still continuing to this day.
