Why does XBone anger many of you?

Just curious. People type XB1 which can technically be read as Xbone anyway. It's a faster way of saying it (silly as it is, people prefer to abbreviate things with as few syllables as possble) and nothing really demeaning about the word.

I think everyone just blows it out of proportion.

Fanboy defensiveness. They take it like some sort of insult.

It... doesn't?

I've never seen an Xbox fan here take offense due to someone calling it the Xbone.

I've only seen a few around here get offended by it. its become the standard nickname for it.

However on other message boards i've seen a quite a few people complain about it to the point that people started getting modded for using it.

I would personally feel ashamed if I ever used the "Xbone" at all. That isn't even close to being clever. It's just some immature nickname. Same goes for "Sony Pony." Both are just lame.

I don't really care, I say X1 as I think that sounds a lot better but anyone can call the console whatever they like, does not affect me at all.

It doesn't anger me at all, it annoys me the same as a 4 year old brat child would by constantly repeating a stupid sounding word they have discovered because they think it sounds clever. Just like the infantile Sony Pony term, how in ****s name did that ever stick? It is not funny, it is not insulting, it is not clever, it makes the people who say it look incredibly ****ing dumb.. And while it is annoying which is probably the intent of using it, it is annoying for the wrong reason.

I just call it the Bone as it's quicker than anything else and it helps that Microsoft wants to suck everyone bone dry!

Sony pony (just like the term "xbot") came around at the beginning of last gen during the height of ps3 vs 360 console wars. i was a part of the conversation where we came up with the terms here on gamefaqs. i am actually surprised they stuck, but here we are today and people are still using them and i've even seen "sony pony" used on other message boards.

The reason why we settled on sony pony was because nobody could think of an appropriate derogatory term for sony fanboys that either rhymed or was a play on sony in some way.
