Whatever happened to Gears of War?

A "friend" of mine is getting an Xbone simply for the fact that he NEEDS to play Gears of War.
Well...where is it? Honestly, I think Microsoft wouldn't be losing as badly if they had shown off a new Gears game, or at least mentioned that one is in development. It was pretty much the brother to Halo when it comes to Xbox exclusives.

Judgement came out this year. I'm glad they aren't making it yearly.

Judgement wasn't horrible, but it wasn't on par with Gears 3. They need a main title about a year from the One's release

If they make Gears 4, I have no doubt it will be amazing. Gears is one of my favorite franchises ever.

I am surprised that they didn't prime a major competitive MP title for release - either Halo or Gears.

I thought Epic was off of Gears, though, and onto an original IP.

First off I'm not sure if Gears is an exclusive anymore. I thought Epic had a four game deal with Microsoft, but I could be wrong. Second, they just released Judgment in March/April so I wouldn't expect a new Gears at the very earliest until 2015. That's just my opinion because they have never released a Gears and Halo in the same year and Halo comes out next year.

If that's true, then the guy I know buying the Xbone is buying it for one franchise that isn't even present on it.

You're making a leap of logic. Bungie is off of Halo, but Halo games are still coming out.

It was planned as a trilogy, Cliffy B even said he wants it to end at 3 and it not continue to avoid stagnation.

Then Judgement happened.

Fingers crossed for Sony to enable PSN name change!!

It took me a while to understand why I hated Judgement and then I realized it - it's because each "level" is just one or two engagements. The game is broken into so many tiny little bite sized pieces that it abandons any sense of scale, gravitas, or momentum...

One of the reasons Gears of War 2 is a top notch game is that the single player campaign swells in magnitude from nearly the start to the end. It's relentless.
