Is that silly rumor that AMD hid an extra GPU in the Xbox One still going around

Thread title.

I'm honestly curious.

Yes. And it will be until at least Sep. 26th.

Lol, that was a rumor created to give false hope to the Xbots.

How hilariously absurd, if Microsoft had an advantage like that they would be screaming it to the heavens, not covertly hiding it as if they were ashamed of it.

Although can you imagine the carnage if it is found to be true. Hell will be unleashed upon the earth. LOL

Well Albert Penello said there wasn't a dGPU, but the majority here think that everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie so...dGPU confirmed?

The reasoning given is that it is hidden behind an NDA.

There is no reason why it would be as good as it sounds. It sounds like Xbox One fans want it to work in crossfire with the other GPU. Which developers have to actually develop for.

The way crossfire works is that it has two GPUs alternating on frames. If one GPU is weaker than the other, then it causes frequent stutters. Developers would have to develop it SPECIFICALLY for utilizing both. In that case it is Cell Architecture all over again.

The most likely scenario (Other than it being fake of course) is that the GPU is meant for something else other than graphics.

Nah, 'PS4 is 50% better at everything' is the new hip topic making the rounds right now.

And I still think that's a stretch.

Well, based off the architecture they displayed at Hot Chips (which still left us with a few questions) Microsoft apparently will be offloading certain processes to the GPU since it can complete them faster. Though I honestly doubt any of that is true regarding having a 2nd one. Even Penello said there isn't one, only more tech "deep diving".
